Long Island Triathlon on September 23, 2018 on the island of Dugi Otok in Croatia

With its calm turquoise waters and a variety of islands, each with its own identity and peculiarity, Croatia is one of the upcoming and yet undiscovered European triathlon destinations.
The first Long Island Triathlon will take place on September 23rd in Dugi Otok (west of the city of Zadar) and known for its untouched nature.
The island is known as one of the best kept secrets of Croatia - a place of peace and tranquility. Named for its characteristic shape, Dugi Otok (Long Island) is 45 km long and only about 5 km wide.
An island of hidden coves, steep cliffs, ancient ruins and beautiful white pebbled beaches is the perfect destination for travelers looking for a memorable landscape and historic site. This is what makes DUGI Otok the ideal venue for multisport event mid-distance triathlon.

- The swimming course starts in Sakarun Bay, a true paradise beach and consists of 1900 m of swimming.
- Then the athletes drive 90 km long at 1266 m difference in height in the direction of the Telascica National Park in the south, without losing sight of the deep blue seascape of the Adriatic Sea.
- Then follows a 21 km long running track through the Telascica National Park with breathtaking views.
Triathlon Long Island ends in Sali, the municipal and administrative center of the island. Sali is a typical Dalmatian village with 1000 years of fishing tradition and ancient olive groves that surround the village.
Join us on this beautiful triathlon adventure and see why you will never forget Dugi Otok, said Ivan Peric, one of the race organizers and member of the triathlon club Zadar.
