Varazdin joins the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2023

According to the UNESCO definition, a creative city is 'a city which places creativity and cultural industries at the heart of its development plan at the local level and which actively cooperates at the international level'.
This network was created in 2004 by the UN with the aim of promoting education, science and culture.

To date, more than 350 cities around the world are linked to it, in 7 creative fields: crafts and popular arts, digital arts, design, film, gastronomy, literature and music.

The town of Varazdin has a long and rich musical tradition: the music school which is one of the oldest and most respected educational institutions in Croatia, instrument makers, active musical associations, international musical competitions, musical events of all kinds and renowned festivals such as the world-famous 'baroque evenings' and the 'pancirfest', the most famous Croatian street festival.
Musical Saturdays are also set up with music on the balconies and in the street, the organs at the cathedral, the fanfare, etc.

Varazdin is truly a city in harmony with music !
