Kornati National Park | Discovery of the local life
Immersion in unique environment of National Park Kornat
The Kornati archipelago became territory of herders and farmers from island Murter in 19th century and they have become sailors and fishermen . They went on their island after a few days, weeks or months, and worked in agriculture, planting olive trees , vineyards , some vegetables , harvesting salt, raising sheep and sheep for milk , cheese and wool, and of course fishing. There ' has never been a permanent settlement on the islands of Kornati .
The landscape is wild rocks streaked with dry stone walls built to delineate sheep pen , dotted here and there with green spots that are olive groves and some vines ; there are 600 species of plants, a sea full of fish and fascinating under marine world .
You have possibility to be in company with owner, to delve into the life and environment. these fishermen, farmers and shepherds who made perpetual round trip between Earth and the islands into the 70s.
The stay begins near Zadar, starting point of the crossing private boat with the owner, a traditional wooden boat , duration of trip 2:30 hours.
You stay in fisherman's cottage , ideal for 6 people but can accommodate up to 8 people and share the activities you choose with owner , such as with a friend.
Program proposals:
- Half board includes breakfast and one meal a day using local produce and fish to taste traditional cuisine.
- A day of sailing in the middle of the archipelago of Kornati National Park and Telascica Natural Park .
- Quick hike up the highest peak Kornati : Metlina which rises to 237m and offers a panoramic view of 360 - Visit the Church of the Visitation of Our Lady of Tarac , church in a church " built in the 12th century on the ruins of a basilica of the 6th century ; and Tureta fortress dating from the 6th century , at the far end of the field Tarac .
- Island of Mana, where you walk on the ruins of a village built to serve as the backdrop for a film in 1959 with actress Maria Shell.
- Swim in a bay of Levrnaka only sandy beach in Kornati island.
- Sestrice Lighthouse , one of the largest in the Adriatic, built in 1876 by the Austro- Hungarian.
- Walk among the olive groves Tarac , Zeljkovci , Cukino ... where trees grow over 3000 .
- Vrulje , the largest village of Kornati with fifty houses and 3 authentic restaurants .
Conditions: a contribution to costs is defined for each output , to do with the owner.
