Kornati National Park

The archipelago ... to crowned islands

National Park Kornati islands comprises 89 islands in the archipelago over an area of 220 km2. It became a National Park in 1980 thanks to the exceptional beauty of its landscape and its rich underwater ecosystem.

General summary

Despite the arid aspect, there are over 650 plant species and a large number of seabirds, eagles and hawks who gather there during periods of migration in spring and autumn.

The clear waters are home to 160 species of fish, we often see dolphins and harbor seabed algae, corals and sponges.

These private islands are characterized by the lack of permanent housing; small fisherman houses served the people of Murter who came to the island to work the land and raise sheep, as evidenced by the 330 km of dry stone walls demarcating the land.
Even today, some owners take care of their olive groves and vineyards and most fisherman houses are transformed into holiday homes in nature.
